" startling sincerity and freshness ..I sense the presence of a serious artist " Brian Sewell, Evening Standard
Nigel Wood's paintings reflect a sensitive and meditative disposition that strives to develop the quiet intensity that pervades his work. His relationship to the surreal beauty that he finds in the wild and open moorland landscape near his home in West Wales has for many years been at the core of his work. After studying illustration at Dyfed College of Art, where he specialized in figurative painting, he began to exhibit his work widely in group and solo exhibitions. Galleries that have shown his work include: The National Portrait Gallery, The Royal College of Art, The Mall Galleries, The Martin Tinney Gallery in Cardiff, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Galerie Beim Rotenturm in Germany and The Glyn Vivien Art Gallery in Swansea.
